Police found five shell casings from three different weapons in the driveway of a third home that had been struck three times.
A witness told officers that when the shooting broke out, a man returned fire.
More than two miles away and ten hours later, a woman told police that she and her family fled to the basement as shots rang out on the 1500 block of Arlington Avenue NW.
Police found bullet holes near the front door and inside the home. They found three 9 mm shell casings outside.
