Youngstown man indicted under Ohio drive-by shooting law

YOUNGSTOWN - A grand jury has charged a 25-year-old Youngstown man under an Ohio law that adds extra prison time to anyone convicted of a drive-by shooting.
The Mahoning County Grand Jury on Thursday handed up a seven-count indictment against Shawta Hasley a shooting on Youngstown’s South Side that wounded three people.
Two women and a 17-year-old girl were shot along the 100 block of Willis Avenue on May 7. One of the women was shot in the neck.
Hasley is charged with three counts of attempted murder and three counts of felonious assault.
The felonious assault charges include specifications that could add three years to a prison sentence because a gun was involved in the alleged crime and an extra five-year term because the alleged crime was a drive-by shooting.
The grand jury also indicted Hasley for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Hasley has been in the county jail since his arrest on May 12 where he awaits a court arraignment.
