St. Demetrios Greek Festival bringing in thousands

Thousands of people continue to turn up to St. Demetrios Greek Festival in Warren after a 2 year hiatus.
"We can't explain how happy we are to see everybody having a good time," explained George Pahoulis of St. Demetrios Church. "Seeing friends that we haven't seen in over a year because of COVID-19."
"We couldn't do anything last year but we are out in full force," said Mikel Lagaras of Champion. "We got all of our friends and family around the table."
21 News hung out with friends and families, some Greek some not, enjoying what the festival has to offer.
"We come here every year because of of wife's heritage," explained John Zimomra of Warren. "So, we enjoy it. We love the food, it's the best."
Pastitsio, souvlaki, spanakopita and sweets like baklava, there's plenty of classic Greek food for anyone to enjoy.
"We got the pastitsio, the beans and the potatoes," Lagaras said. "We got some spanikopita, some smelts and a gyro."
"I've never been here so first time for me and so the line for the gyro is worth it," said Vince Cappitte of Girard. "I'm excited to get one."
Organizers here tell 21 News they've sold over 5,000 Greek donuts so far this weekend.
"The food's good, Greek culture's good, the Greek dancing is good, the Greek music is good, and the gyros are good," said Skevos Tsikouris of Campbell.
"We were at the Mount Carmel Festival last week because they didn't have it the year before so this is just great," Zimomra added.
