STRUTHERS, Ohio - Residents in Struthers may wonder what’s going on when they see people knocking on doors and taking pictures of homes in their neighborhoods.

City officials say it’s part of an effort with the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation to identify vacant homes.

As part of a comprehensive plan, the entire city will be canvassed.

Those conducting the survey will be knocking on doors of homes that appear to be vacant.  Otherwise, canvassers will remain on the street or sidewalk.

The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation works to encourage reinvestment of time, money, and energy into local homes.

Canvassers can be identified by the bright neon vests they’ll be wearing.
