It's a big upcoming weekend for Youngstown native band, The Vindys as they release their long-awaited third studio album, 'Bugs.'

21 News Anchor Erin Simonek hung out with Jackie Popovec and Rick Deak before the Styx concert at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheater Thursday night, just 48 hours until one of their biggest performances.

"We're just excited to finally release this album and finally happy to bring this album to the release party in Youngstown," Deak said.

The band just finished recording 'Bugs' in early 2020 but the pandemic delayed it's release.

"It was a little bit heartbreaking for us to decide to hold off on releasing the album for that year," Popovec said. "We waited until this year and I'm glad that we did because now we can promote it and support it the way that we want to."

Popovec came up with the album name of 'Bugs.' Figuratively, explaining how she likes writing lyrics based on things that annoy or 'bug' her. And literally, after a bee infestation at her Youngstown home a few years back.

"This album is way more rock," Popovec said. "It's really fun to have the horn section more involved as well in our band. We come with a nine piece band now."

The Vindys said it's their constant goal to make sure they enjoy the music they're creating and the success that comes with it is just an added bonus.

"If anything else comes after that, we are just trilled," Popovec said.

The Vindys invite you to the Amphitheater this Saturday at 7 p.m. to hear their classics and new album.
