The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will be testing the emergency alert system (EAS) and wireless emergency alerts (WEA) nationwide Wednesday, Aug. 11 at 2:20 p.m.

The messages will be sent to televisions, radios, and select cell phones who have opted to receive WEA alerts.

This will be the second nationwide WEA test but the first nationwide test that allows subscribers to opt-in to receive messages. This will be the sixth nationwide test of the EAS.
