A walkout is being planned for Wednesday by employees across the country in protest of vaccination mandates.

Walk Out Wednesday is set to take place on August 11th from noon to 1 p.m.

The website for the event says, "no one should be forced, coerced, or pressured to inject the COVID shots."

21 News has reached out to several local hospitals regarding the potential of a one-hour walkout by employees.

Mercy Health acknowledged the potential walkout and said those on duty that choose to participate should work with their managers.

A Mercy Health representative sent the following statement regarding the movement:

On Wednesday, Aug 11, a nationwide walkout is planned to protest the COVID-19 vaccination requirements in health care, schools, and other places of employment.

We encourage any Mercy Health associate on duty who chooses to participate to work cooperatively with their manager, ensuring that we continue to fulfill our commitment to the safety of our patients who entrust us with their care. For those at the bedside, we also recognize that a moment of silence may provide associates with an alternate way to observe this moment in time.

As a ministry, our Mission guides us to ensure that our associates’ health and safety are our top priority as they compassionately care for our communities.

21 News has reached out to several other area facilities but has yet to hear back.
