Jamestown Fire Chief faces trial for attempted murder

MERCER, Pa. - The chief of the Jamestown, Pennsylvania Volunteer Fire Department faces trial for allegedly shooting a Greenville man.
A district magistrate on Thursday ruled that charges against 54-year-old David Earl Jones would be held for proceedings in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
State Police say Jones wounded 31-year-old Tyler Schadt on June 13.
The victim was shot in the neck during a domestic argument on the 200 block of Chestnut Street in Jamestown.
State Police Major Case investigators say Jones got a gun from his car and shot Schadt.
Jones, who has been free on $500,000 bond since late June, is charged with attempted homicide, and two counts of aggravated assault.
He is scheduled for a formal arraignment before Judge Tedd Nesbit on October 12.
According to the fire department's website, Jones joined the department in 1984.
