NEWTON FALLS, Ohio - Newton Falls residents may hear some loud booms in the area over the next couple of days as explosives will be used during training at the nearby James A. Garfield Joint Military Training Center.
Explosives will be used by the Ohio National Guard on Wednesday and Thursday.
The high explosives are being used during the combat engineer course to simulate realistic battle conditions.
Sounds from the explosions may be heard farther away than during normal training operations.
The National Guard says intermittent explosions and gunfire will be happening at the training center through September.
