Penguin City Beer breaks ground at new their new facility

The company hosted an event to celebrate the occasion by having several media members present, Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown, and many others.
The gathering was to celebrate breaking ground for the future home of Penguin City Beer on 460. East Federal St.
The company first started in 2016 with an idea, and then in 2017, it became official. From there, it continues to grow. Then in April of 2021, they made their first shipment of beer outside state lines to Erme's Distributing on North Hermitage Road in Hermitage.
They have now secured contracts to distribute beer for Western PA counties, all of West. Virginia and they are in talks to expand to other parts of Ohio.
The end goal is to have a nice taproom, bar and restaurant which will occupy the lower level. The upper level will be the brewery, canning, and event center. Plans are to start on the demo clean-out next week.
This morning, leaders from the Valley were in attendance and said they hope that more individuals take the initiative to bring more businesses to the Valley region.
"To drive through what we say is downtown Youngstown and now being the east district and have something here, it continues to expand the city and continuing to expand the opportunities, it's going to be great," said Vincent Peterson, Community Affairs Liaison for Congressman Tim Ryan.
Within three years, the brewery looks to add 40 more jobs to the Youngstown Area.
The plan is to have the brewery and taproom open before Christmas.
