A Warren man accused of causing a lockdown at Trumbull Regional Medical Center faces criminal charges.

Police arrested 32-year-old Jason Reed at the hospital Thursday night after he allegedly threatened to shoot a nurse and one of his relatives.

An ICU nurse told officers that Reed called her on the phone wanting information on the condition of his mother who is a patient at the hospital.

When the nurse told Reed that she couldn’t give him that information and that he would need to contact a relative who has Power of Attorney, Reed allegedly said he would get his AK 47 and shoot the nurse, the relative with Power of Attorney, or anyone who tried to contact the relative.

Reed then appeared in the hospital lobby, allegedly becoming belligerent with the nurse and a surgeon, walking around, threatening to “shoot” a local nursing home.

A security guard placed the hospital on lockdown.

Police handcuffed Reed, who they say did not have a weapon.

Reed is charged with domestic violence, inducing panic, and aggravated menacing.

Reed is scheduled to answer the charges during a video arraignment in Warren Municipal Court on Friday.

A hospital spokesperson issued the below statement:

“Last night, following a disturbance involving a visitor at Trumbull Regional Medical Center, the campus was placed on a brief lockdown. Hospital security and Warren police promptly responded to resolve the situation and the lockdown was quickly lifted. Fortunately, no patients or staff were impacted and the campus is open and fully operational.”
