Detectives are trying to find out who fatally shot a woman in a South Side neighborhood early Sunday.

After detecting the sound of gunfire on the police department’s Shotspotter system, officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of Southern Boulevard at around 5 a.m.

There they found a woman in her 20’s shot several times.

An ambulance was called, but the victim had already passed away.

The coroner has not yet released the identity of the victim.

Police say tips leading to an arrest and prosecution are eligible for a monetary reward.
