The Crestview Local School District is dealing with several cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth disease.

According to an update from the Superintendent, most of the cases have been at the middle and high schools.

The CDC says Hand, Foot and Mouth disease is common in children under 5 years old but anyone can get it.

The illness is not considered serious but is extremely contagious. The CDC notes that Hand, Foot and Mouth can spread quickly at schools and daycare centers.

Hand, Foot and Mouth is spread through respiratory droplets that contain virus particles, touching an infected person or by touching objects and surfaces that have the virus on them.

Symptoms of the disease include mouth sores, skin rash on palms and soles of the feet, fever, sore throat and other flu-like symptoms.
