STRUTHERS, Ohio - The City of Struthers held a council meeting Wednesday night to discuss the possibility of two new medicinal marijuana dispensaries for the area.

The meeting resulted in the city coming up with a resolution to support these dispensaries. The city will vote to have this resolution passed in another meeting next Wednesday.

Two companies will potentially be coming to the area, and will both be located in downtown Struthers. The two companies are Galenas and another currently unnamed company owned by the Groner Family.

According to Struthers Mayor, Catherine Cercone Miller, this will operate on a lottery system where the city does not control which company gets a license. Part of the application process is writing a letter to the city.

Miller says if these dispensaries come into fruition, the city will not only benefit from tax dollars, but job creation and foot traffic downtown as well.

Once an agreement has been made, the city will have 59 days to submit its application. Miller says the city will just have to wait and see what happens during that time.
