Youngstown's private prison officials call inmate death 'apparent suicide'

Operators of Youngstown's privately run prison say an inmate has died following an apparent suicide attempt.
An ambulance was called to the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center on Hubbard Road just before 5:30 a.m. Monday to investigate an inmate who was found hanging.
The prisoner, described by NEOCC officials as an Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction inmate, was found unresponsive.
While an emergency response team and medical staff came to assist the inmate, an ambulance was also called.
The inmate, whose name has not been released, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after 6 a.m., according to NEOCC officials who say they are cooperating with an investigation.
The Mahoning County Coroner has been contacted to investigate the death.
NEOCC is operated by CoreCivic, which runs more than 70 correctional facilities around the country.
