CANFIELD, Ohio - Congressman Tim Ryan greeted supporters outside the Mahoning Democratic Party tent at the Canfield Fair.

WFMJ News asked him about the eviction moratorium ending and solutions to help keep people in homes.

"We put billions of dollars down and it's just not getting released, so we've got to figure out at a local level a strategy. I mean these landlords need paid," said Congressman Ryan.

The congressman believes the economy is gaining strength, with good paying jobs unfilled, that can help families and people no longer receiving the extra federal benefits make ends meet.

"Look at TJX Home Goods they're already well over one thousand workers starting at 17, 18 bucks an hour, Lordstown Motors they still have over 500 people there, the battery plant, Macy's, like the jobs are there and the wages are going up so I think there is plenty of opportunity for people to get out and go to work. But if you have an issue around child care and if there are no child care opportunities for you and your can't afford it, your not going to get out there," said Ryan.

Ryan emphasized, "Which is why in this next infrastructure bill there is also a very robust child care for working people to be able to take care of child care, there is also universal preschool which will get kids in school which will relieve them of child care, so there are a lot of things out there that will put money in the pockets of working people."

He adds some of the provisions in the bill in it's current state, include paid family leave, and a tax cut for working families and paid community college.

Ryan says he is still working with congress, and the administration to try and get Delphi salaried employees the pensions they deserve.
