STRUTHERS, Ohio - Struthers police have identified the two suspects involved in a police pursuit on Tuesday starting in Struthers and ending on Hummingbird Hill Dr. in Poland when the driver crashed into a guard rail.

The operator of a white Mazda, Deandre Smith (19), along with his cousin, Larry Smith (18), are both facing charges in connection with the incident.

Police said the pursuit began in Struthers after an officer saw the vehicle at Sami Quick Stop on Youngstown Poland Rd. and determined that the driver did not have a valid driver's license.

The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but they said they continued to flee.

The chase led officers near Poland Seminary High School where a soccer match was taking place at the high school's stadium.

Police said the vehicle crashed into a guard rail, as well as another vehicle on Route 170.

Officers then realized the cousins had guns on them as the two fled.

The presence of firearms caused the sporting event to be placed on lockdown, which induced panic throughout the stadium.

Deandre Smith was apprehended and the firearm was seized.

A short time later, Larry Smith was found and apprehended as well. The two were sent to Saint Elizabeth's main campus for a medical evaluation.

Both Deandre and Larry Smith are currently in the Mahoning County Jail. Deandre Smith is facing charges of carrying concealed weapons, obstructing official business, failure to comply with the orders of a police officer, aggravated vehicular assault, having weapons under disability and inducing panic in regards to the sporting event being locked down.
