Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County to enter phase three of renovations

The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC)'s main library (305, Wick Ave.) is preparing to enter phase three of renovations.
On January 3, 2022, the second phase of the Main Library construction project will be open to the public. The second floor will open including a new computer lab, study rooms, meeting rooms and Genealogy and Local History.
Renovations on the main library began in August of 2020 and are expected to finish up in early 2022. The cost of the design and construction for the project is expected to be $26.1 million.
Phase three of the construction project will see the renovation of the Grand Reading Room, as well as the creation of a new Wick Avenue entrance replicating the original front of the library.
To accommodate the work necessary to move the project from phase two to phase three, the main library will be temporarily closed starting on Monday, Nov 22 until the end of the year to allow staff the time to move materials from the Grand Reading Room and to prepare the second floor for public service.
During this temporary closure, the main library's curbside dropoff will be unavailable. Patrons can use any other open PLYMC location or use PLYMC's online services on their website.
