Lisbon High School honors 9/11 with 2,977 American flags

LISBON, Ohio - Lisbon High School juniors and seniors honored the lives lost 20 years ago in the historic attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 with 2,977 American flags. One for each life lost in the attack.
The display was organized by Lisbon High School's Video Works Class, who was tasked with creating a video to educate and memorialize the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
Inspired by a memorial from a school in Coronado, California that used American flags, the students set out to create a flag display of their own with the flags in the shape of the World Trade Center as well as the Pentagon.
The class, along with teacher, Ashley Wallace secured a donation of flags from the John J. Welsh Post 275 of Lisbon American Legion, as well as the Lisbon School District.
A ceremony was held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 10 outside of David Anderson Jr./Sr. High School to present the display to the public. The display will be up from Friday, Sept. 10 until Monday, Sept. 13.
