Mercer County, Pa. - A Pennsylvania State Trooper from the Mercer County barracks was arrested Wednesday for allegedly signing his technical sergeant's name on an official document and altering military orders he received as a member of the Ohio Air National Guard.

According to the criminal complaint, Trooper Jamhal Simon of West Middlesex was charged by Pennsylvania State Police with two misdemeanors, one for forgery and another for tampering with records.

The complaint stated that Simon was to report at the 179th Airlift Wing in Mansfield, Ohio for military orders regarding his position with the Ohio Air National Guard on May 28 and again between June 5 and June 10 of this year.

Simon was reportedly given the orders through a Word document and allegedly altered the memorandum to change the dates he was set to be relieved from his state police duties, adding multiple dates to the beginning and end of his expected report dates, according to the complaint.

He then allegedly altered his technical sergeant's email and phone numbers that were on that document.

He also reportedly forged the sergeant's signature before handing the memorandum to his Pennsylvania State Police supervisor, so that he could be scheduled for military leave on those days.

He is currently suspended without pay pending the investigation.

Simon has been with the state police since March 2015 and graduated as a member of the 142nd cadet class.

He's expected to appear in court next month.
