BRACEVILLE TWP., Ohio - Two men were arrested in Braceville Township on Tuesday at the scene of a crash at the intersection of Route 5 and Route 534.

The incident took place on Tuesday, Sept. 14 in Braceville Township when the Newton Falls Police Department alongside local Fire and EMS were investigating a fatal crash near the intersection of State Route 5 and Route 534.

During this time, SR 5 was shut down for investigation. A white 2012 Jeep Wrangler drove through the road closure around other stopped traffic entering the investigation scene. 

The driver who was later identified as Leaondav Hinesvanterpoolgordon (26) was ordered to stop the vehicle multiple times, but he continued to flee running over an officer's foot and subsequently ended up with the officer's gun.

Hinesvanterpoolgordon fled the scene and and a pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, passenger Noah Denious (22) threw the stolen weapon out the window of the vehicle. The vehicle came to a stop in a nearby parking lot where both Hinesvanterpoolgordon and Denious were taken into custody. The stolen firearm was also returned to the officer.

Hinesvanterpoolgordon was initially charged with Aggravated Robbery, Assault and Failure to Comply. Denious was initially charged with Aggravated Robbery and Tampering with Evidence.

The case is still under investigation and additional charges are pending.
