WARREN, Ohio -  Members of Warren City Council will be asked this week to find ways to find short-term and long-term solutions to flooding problems in various neighborhoods.

At the request of First Ward Councilman and Water Pollution Control Committee Chairman Larry Larson, the council will meet on Wednesday to give a second reading to three pieces of emergency legislation addressing sewer issues.

Earlier this month council heard heated complaints from residents who expressed their frustrations with repeated flooding in the area.

Residents shared their stories of thousands of dollars of worth of belongings destroyed after sewer water flooded their houses.

Some residents urged city officials to work more diligently on cleaning the sewers or even having them replaced. Others suggested using ARP funding to pay for the expenses.

One ordinance being considered Wednesday would solicit bids for contracts to remove accumulated sediment throughout the city sewer system.

The second piece of legislation calls for seeking engineering contracts to update the city’s sanitary sewer hydraulic model.

A third ordinance focuses on redesigning and reconfiguring the Niles Road sewer system.
