STRUTHERS, Ohio - A vigil was held in Struthers Tuesday night to honor 4-year-old Rowan Sweeney one year after his death.

100 people gathered across from the Struthers High School football stadium at 8:00 p.m. to mourn the loss of Sweeney.

Friends and family spoke on behalf of Sweeney's death describing the murder as senseless violence. Those in attendance held candles and stood together to reflect on Sweeney's life. The event also acted as a call to action to stop violence in the community.

Sweeney was murdered on September 21, 2020 during a home invasion in which he died in the arms of his mother. Officials believe the invasion was a robbery attempt.
