SALEM, Ohio - A Salem family is hoping to remain in their home after a tree fell onto it.

The tree came down around 8 a.m. Wednesday at a home on the 600 block of Deming Street.

The homeowner told 21 News that she was taking her two kids to school when the tree split and landed on her house and a neighbor's car.

It is believed that the tree had some rotten parts as it split off and did not uproot.

The family says they are trying to determine if the tree pierced the roof. If it didn't they should be able to stay in their home.

Their insurance company has been notified.

No one was injured in the incident.
