WEATHERSFIELD TWP., Ohio - As the number of COVID-19 cases rises in Trumbull County school districts, so does the number of school systems that require masks indoors.

The latest is the Weathersfield Local School District which announced on Wednesday that it will be mandating masks for all students, staff, and visitors regardless of vaccination status starting Thursday, Sept. 23.

The mandate is due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases and required quarantines throughout the district. This policy will allow the district to maintain the health of its students and their academic growth.

Lordstown Schools initiated a mask mandate as of this past Monday. On that same day, Hubbard Schools expanded its high school mask requirement to also include elementary and middle schools.

The Howland District put a mask mandate into effect on Tuesday.
