Authorities are working to find out exactly where a man was shot early Wednesday.

Youngstown police were called after someone dropped off the wounded victim at Mercy Hospital at around 2 a.m.

Medical staff couldn’t tell police where the shooting occurred but did get the license plate number of the car that dropped the man off.

Although a patrol car was dispatched to the hospital, police tell 21 News that Youngstown Police Detectives were not sent out to investigate.

The victim was shot in the leg and doctors tell police his wounds are not believed to be life-threatening.
