Feds join local police raids targeting violent crimes in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN - Youngstown Police have enlisted the help of county and federal law enforcement to search two homes on the city’s South Side that they believe are linked to what they say are very serious violent crimes.
Youngstown Chief of Detectives, Captain Jason Simon, told 21 News that search warrants were executed at 561 Cambridge Avenue and 153 East Judson Avenue Friday morning.
Simon says an FBI SWAT Team and the Mahoning County Crisis Response Team helped detectives conduct raids on the home and collect evidence.
One person from the home on Cambridge was taken to police headquarters downtown for questioning. No one was at the East Judson address.
Police would not elaborate on the specifics of the alleged crimes but did say they occurred this year.
There have been several shootings in the city that have spurred a heightened law enforcement response in the city.
One night in August, two people were shot to death on the South Side, including ten-year-old Persayus Chanell Davis, mobilizing church leaders and other community members to call for an end to the violence.
