Members of Teamsters Local 377 gathered outside of Stericycle in Warren this morning for what members are calling a practice strike.

Members say they've been working without a contract with Stericycle for over year. They added that multiple attempts to renegotiate have not been successful.

The union says while they technically are not striking now, they want to show the company they are serious if no action is taken.

Stericycle sent the following statement to 21 News:

"Stericycle is proud to be part of the Warren, Ohio, community, as we play an essential role in protecting people, promoting health, and safeguarding the environment through our regulated waste and compliance services and secure information destruction solutions. We are also deeply appreciative of our team members and their contributions to help us protect what matters.

"For nearly a year, we have been actively engaged in good faith negotiations on a regular basis with Teamsters Local 377 on a renewal collective bargaining agreement covering team members in our Warren, Ohio location. Last week, team members in Warren rejected a contract proposal from Stericycle. This proposal included significant enhancements to wages, vacation time, and updates to company policies, among other changes to the contract. We remain committed to bargaining in good faith and to providing essential services to our healthcare customers and our communities, especially as we all are dealing with the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic."
