Farrell School Board votes not to change gymnasium name

FARRELL, Pa. - The Farrell School Board has voted not to change the name of the Farrell High School gymnasium after calls for the name to be changed.
The decision was made after a close 5-4 vote ending up in favor of maintaining the gymnasium's name.
The gymnasium was named in honor of former Farrell basketball coach, Eddie McClusky, who was primarily known for his seven championship wins. However, demand for his name to be removed came after allegations from McClusky's past.
According to Brian K. Sanders, who was formerly coached by McClusky, McClusky allegedly abused many players, both physically and verbally. Sanders recalled McLusky allegedly punching, kicking, slapping and busting clipboards over players' heads.
In addition, others recall McClusky allegedly using racially offensive language towards students, as well as other forms of verbal abuse.
Those in support of the name change say this fight is not over and will take this case to the courtroom if possible.
