Local retailers say shop early this holiday season

Mahoning Valley - As the Holidays approach, local retailers say there's a shortage of items you may be in the market for soon, such as decorations and gift items.
Kraynak's in Hermitage is fortunate for ordering artificial Christmas tree décor early, but they're still seeing the shortage impact, shipping delays and cost increases.
Kraynak's predicts a shortage in toys may ramp up through the season.
"Even though we sell toys year-round, many of our vendors are saying that there's going to be a shortage and it will be really difficult to place re-orders," General Manager Dan Zippie, said.
Despite the shortage and delays, Kraynak's was still able to get their 'Santa's Christmasland' set up, but they do recommend you shop early for Halloween and Xmas items, as well as all items.
"A lot of the imports are very slow in arriving to the United States, so we're seeing that," Zippie said.
Kraynak's is not alone. This is happening with retailers across the state. Retail experts predict electronics and appliances will also experience a shortage this season.
The culprit is the supply chain disruption the pandemic continues to affect.
"When you look at this problem and that it's not one thing impacting the supply chain, there are issues on manufacturing end, there are issues on the transportation of these products and the workforce shortage," Alex Boehke of Ohio Council-Retail Merchants said, "So all those things need to be addressed I think before we really get back to 'quote-on-quote' normal. I think we will get back there, but it night be a holiday season where we're going to see a little bit more issues on the supply side. "
