YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Two men involved in the beating an kidnapping of a Youngstown woman on September 20, 2021 were arraigned in the Youngstown Municipal Court on Monday and Wednesday respectively.

Janarvis Roberts (26) was arrested on September 30 at 591, Cambridge Ave. in Youngstown after a search warrant was conducted at his residence in reference to the incident.

Roberts was charged with kidnapping, three counts of felonious assault and aggravated menacing. He was arraigned in court on Monday, Oct. 4 and will return for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 9:15 a.m.

On October 4, Farren McClendon (43) turned himself in to police. McClendon was charged with kidnapping, complicity to three counts of felonious assault, and complicity to aggravated menacing.

McClendon was arraigned in court on Wednesday, Oct. 6 and will return for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 9:30 a.m.

On September 20, police were dispatched to the area of Nelson and Warwick in response to an injured woman asking for help.

A female victim was located on the porch of a home in the 2000 block of Warwick Ave. where officers observed severe injuries. The victim explained that she had been kidnapped from Judson Ave., severely beaten and raped and then dumped into the woods on the Sharon line off Nelson Ave. The victim then wandered to the residence on Warwick Ave. who called for help. 

The victim was transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital for treatment via American Medical Response (AMR).
