The NASCAR Cup Series Round of 8 is set following the final race of the Round of 12 from Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course, as Kyle Larson took the checkered flag. Larson rallied from early electrical issues and was at one point below the playoff cut line. He was able to get past Denny Hamlin in the race's final restart.

Locally tied Ryan Blaney finished 9th, but advanced to the Round of 8 via points accumulation.

The eight drivers advancing include: Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, Brad Keselowski and Martin Truex Jr.

Kevin Harvick, in what was seemingly a retaliation action from a feud at Bristol three weeks ago, wrecked into Chase Elliott sending him into the wall. Elliott finished 12th overall. With 11 laps remaining in the final stage, it was Harvick that wrecked himself out of the playoffs after missing a corner and crashing into the wall, causing flames and heavy damage.

Drivers eliminated from the Cup Series playoffs include: Kevin Harvick, Christopher Bell, William Byron and Alex Bowman.

The green flag drops in the Round of 8 beginning next Sunday at 2:00 p.m. from Texas Motor Speedway.
