Longtime former Brookfield firefighter and mentor dies

BROOKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Longtime former Brookfield Firefighter Raleigh C. Hughes III has died, according to a Facebook post from the department.
Captain of the Brookfield Fire Department Nick Cresanto tells 21 News that Hughes was loved by everyone, working at the department for 20 years.
Cresanto says Hughes served as union president for at least 12 years, and also worked at MedStar.
A Facebook post from the Brookfield Fire Chief says that Hughes "was instrumental in getting Brookfield's EMS service to where it is today," and will be missed.
"He was a great influence on many of our members and first responders throughout the region," said the Facebook post.
Many comments on the post referred to Hughes as a great man and mentor.
Funeral arrangements for Hughes have not yet been set.
