Runners take to streets for annual Youngstown Peace Race

Runners laced up their shoes for the Annual 10K Youngstown Peace Race on Sunday.
The route took runners through scenic Mill Creek Park and through the city. The 47th annual event attracted runners from as far away as Arizona and New Mexico.
Ellis Archer from Pittsburgh was the first to cross the finish line at Federal Plaza. His time was 30 minutes. Anna Shields was the first woman across the finish line at 35 minutes 38 seconds.
There were fewer competitors in the event this year due to the pandemic and scheduling.
"A lot of them got pushed from the spring time to the fall, so there are two, three races every single weekend," said race coordinator Mark Sorrentino. "Our numbers are down a little bit but in comparison to some of the other races were doing pretty good. We had a nice turn out."
A 2-Mile run and walk were held for kids ages ten and under. A virtual option was also available for participants not comfortable racing in person.
