Applications for free hearing help being sought

Imagine not being able to hear and then worse yet, not being able to afford to get help to restore your hearing.
Well, a special campaign that is celebrating its tenth year in the valley, is seeking applications for help at no charge.
Each year Centers for Hearing Care looks to help between 30-50 people hear again. It's all part of their Mission Hearing Campaign, funded by the center and through donations from the local community.
"A lot of folks that find out what we are doing and want to participate by donating hearing aids or donating dollars. We are a 5013c so they can write off their donation," said Fortunato Figliano of Centers for Hearing Care in Boardman.
After an application process, the center picks out a large group of needy people and provides them with free hearing aids, service and batteries.
To qualify, the focus is usually on those with no insurance and no other means for help.
Then, before the holidays the center holds a special event for recipients and their families to get their hearing aids.
"Knowing that the impact it has on an individual, seeing it through the years and then knowing the person who you are helping is about to get on this journey back to better hearing is just a wonderful experience," added Figliano.
The deadline for application is coming up quick, Monday, October 25th.
