YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Gas prices in Northeast Ohio decreased this week, according to AAA's East Central's Gas Price Report.

The average across Northeast Ohio this week is $3.167 per gallon, down from last week's average of $3.218.

Even as prices drop, it is well above the weekly average of $1.999 per gallon during the same time last year.

Niles has the lowest average in the Valley at $3.130 per gallon. Youngstown's average per gallon is currently $3.184.

AAA East Central is reporting that the national average price for a gallon of gas rose two cents over last week. The average price is now $3.40.

According to AAA data, there has been a slight decrease in domestic demand for gas, signaling that the post-Labor Day price drop may have been delayed this year.

The national average of $3.40 is 21 cents higher than last month and $1.27 more than last year.
