Suspect in vandalism of Youngstown church statues indicted
The charge against twenty-year-old Caleb Vancampen is in connection to the destruction of 16 sacred statues outside of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown in February.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - An East Palestine man has been indicted by a Mahoning County Grand Jury on a charge of vandalism.
The charge against twenty-year-old Caleb Vancampen is in connection to the destruction of 16 sacred statues outside of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown in February.
Vancampen is accused of causing around $100,000 in damage to the statues around the church. Two granite statues and a light pole globe were also damaged.
Some of the statues appeared to be struck by bricks and others were decapitated.
Vancampen underwent months of treatment at Heartland Behavioral Facility before being ruled competent to stand trial.
His next court date has not been scheduled yet.
