DeWine signs House Bill 172, making consumer fireworks legal

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohioans can now legally set off fireworks on private property on certain holidays after Governor Mike DeWine signed House Bill 172 into law Friday according to co-sponsor Representative Michael O'Brien.
The bill's approval makes Ohio the 49th state in the country to legalize the use of consumer fireworks.
"We’re thrilled for all firework enthusiasts in Ohio, and we never could have done it without your support," said Phantom Fireworks President and CEO Bruce Zoldan in a statement.
There are still some restrictions, with the firework approved holidays including Juneteenth, New Year's Eve and Day, Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends, Cinco de Mayo, and July 3rd-5th.
The bill goes into effect July 1st, 2022, just in time for the Fourth of July Festivities.
