NEW CASTLE, Pa. - A New Castle man is facing charges after allegedly trying to strangle a woman.

According to the report, 24-year-old Devaughn Smith was involved in a domestic argument with a 21-year-old woman on October 23rd around 3:50 a.m. at a home on East Elizabeth Street

State police say the argument turned physical with Smith attempting to strangle the victim.

Smith was charged with strangulation, simple assault, theft by unlawful taking and harassment.

Police say an iPhone was also stolen during the incident.

Smith has a court date set for Tuesday.
