Three horses from Trumbull County looking for a new home
RAVENNA, Ohio - Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary in Ravenna is hoping to find a good home for three horses that recently came to their facility from Trumbull County.
For 20 years, the non-profit organization has worked with law enforcement and county humane agencies to help rescue abused, neglected or abandoned farm animals. Those cases always centered around criminal charges. But just in the past year, Happy Trails has expanded their mission to accept horses and other farm animals from owners who simply can no longer care for the animals.
Donor Stewardship Coordinator Lissy Kuhn says the 'Owner Relinquish Initiative' began as they noticed a increased need by families falling on hard times and looking to rehome their farm animals. Kuhn said this initiative is what brought three horses to their facility from Trumbull County.
The horses came from two separate homes. Kuhn said in one case the owner had passed away, and the other case was due to a change in life.
Each of the three horses are now available for adoption.
Luke is a 25 year-old American Quarter Horse. Luke is looking for a home as a pasture pal and is not rideable.

Bo is a 20 year-old Appendix Quarter Horse gelding. Bo is capable of light riding with an intermediate rider.

Biscuit is a 17 year-old double registered Quarter Horse and Arabian mare. Kuhn said, Biscuit is looking for an adoptive home "where her adopter gives her the consistency and care she so deserves."

Those interested in adopting these horses can click here to fill out an application.
Kuhn also notes that if you are unable to adopt an animal, you can still donate to their mission.
Happy Trails biggest fundraising event of the year is coming up on Tuesday, November 30th and is known as an international day of giving.
Donations made that day will go directly to caring for the animals. Here are all the ways you can give.
