YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Protestant Family Service is getting ready for its annual "Adopt a Family" program and is calling on the community for donations.

Usually, the organization asks for actual gift donations, but this year, as well as in 2020, it is asking for gift cards of any amount in lieu of actual gifts due to COVID-19. Any amount is acceptable.

However, the organization has noted that it has a dozen children who are wheelchair bound and do not have easy access to stores so it is requesting actual gifts for them.

In addition to gift cards for gifts like toys, the organization is also accepting gift cards for grocery stores in lieu of food donations. They are requested in $25 increments.

The deadline to donate gift cards is Monday, Dec. 13. Donors are requested to put the amount of money that is on the gift card.

Anyone who knows someone in need this holiday season should call the Protestant Family Service office open from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
