Armstrong seeking eligible veterans to match with service dogs

BOARDMAN, Ohio - Armstrong is looking for eligible veterans to match with service dogs as part of its Healing Heroes initiative.
Healing Heroes was started five years ago to help pair five veterans with trained service dogs. As of 2021, the initiative has paired eight veterans with service dogs. The initiative is currently able to help pair an additional seven veterans with service dogs because of additional donations.
Veterans living in the Armstrong service area can submit an application for a service dog. The service area includes Mahoning and Trumbull counties in Ohio, and Lawrence and Mercer Counties in Pennsylvania.
The service dogs can help veterans with PTSD, mobility issues, seizure disorders and other disorders.
Armstrong has partnered up with Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs to help provide the companions.
