MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - Schools across the Mahoning Valley took the time to thank veterans Thursday.

Students of all ages got involved and put on displays to honor those that have served the country for Veteran's Day.

The veterans of our Valley were celebrated largely with music and kind words at Struthers High School for putting their lives on the line for the U.S.

Though many of our veterans may still be fighting battles we know nothing about, the Struthers community showed their respect and reverence for the heroes.

"I DON'T MEAN TO BE EMOTIONAL BUT, EVERY YEAR, FEWER OF THEM ARE HERE. THEY HAVE PASSED ON, BUT THEY HAVE LEFT A LEGACY FOREVER HERE IN STRUTHERS," Dr. Sandi Dibacco said.

In Boardman, veterans lined up to receive cards and flowers from kindergarteners at west boulevard elementary.

the veteran's drive-thru was a unique way of celebrating the brave men and women who served.

Students chanted u.s.a. as they handed veterans their heartfelt crafts and thanked them face-to-face. Our veterans said they're VERY pleased to see young children gain knowledge of what was done for them.

"THEY FOUGHT FOR US, I MEAN, THEY REALLY LET US DO THINGS THAT WE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DO," Dominic Schiavoni, a student at west boulevard elementary said.
