People have been calling the Columbiana County Sheriff to report a scam.
Deputies say they have received several calls from people who say that they got a call from a man claiming to be “Deputy Peterson” from the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office, Civil Processing division.
He tells the intended victims that they are required to meet him and provide DNA, money and other items or they will be prosecuted.
The call is coming from the phone number 330-850-7041.
Deputies believe the scammer appears to be targeting people that are required to check-in with Sgt. Malone from the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff says anyone receiving such a call should not give any personal information, or money and should not meet with him.
