JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Mahoning County, Ohio - The man named as a suspect for theft at the Our Lady of Lebanon Shrine has been arrested in Stark County.

Police Chief Greg Taillon tells 21 News that acting on a tip, 49-year-old Michael McCutcheon of Youngstown was taken into custody in Massillon, Ohio.

McCutcheon is a suspect wanted for November 5th incident at the shrine on North Lipkey Road.

Taillon released surveillance images showing a man allegedly stealing cash from an elderly parishioner and the gift shop at the shrine.

Chief Taillon said the man allegedly made up a story to get the elderly woman to leave the room before taking money from her purse and the register.

The chief says that thanks to a story on wfmj.com and TV 21, tips poured in, some of them identifying McCutcheon, who is familiar in several neighboring communities.  McCutcheon was recently released from prison according to the chief.

State records show McCutcheon was on parole for convictions on multiple counts of burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, forgery, breaking and entering, and failure to comply with a police order in Mahoning and Richland counties.

Even before the North Jackson theft, there were warrants for McCutcheon's arrest in Boardman and Austintown.

Cheif Taillon tells 21 News that McCutcheon is wanted in so may communities, as well as parole authorities, he's not sure when he'll be brought to Mahoning County to face charges.
