Hunters are preparing for the Ohio Deer Gun season that kicks off at the end of November.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources expects 300,000 hunters to head into the state's forests and fields this year's season.

Gun season kicks off with youth hunting on Saturday and Sunday before it becomes available for all hunters on Monday, November 29.

Ohio hunters harvested 92,310 deer during gun seasons in 2020 with 71,651 taken during the week-long fun season.

The 2020 statewide total increased nearly 10% from the three-year average of 83,935 deer.

Coshocton, Tuscarawas, Ashtabula, Muskingum and Knox counties led the state in deer harvested last year.

Hunters may take only one antlered deer. Legal hunting equipment for all deer gun seasons includes specific shotguns, muzzleloaders, handguns, straight-walled cartridge rifles and archery equipment.
