Tis the season to eat, drink and in some cases drive while intoxicated.

As more and more of us venture out this season compared to last year, there's expected to be more cars on the road which in turn could mean more drunk drivers.

A new survey by Safe Auto shows:

  • 40% of people ages 21-34 say they are more likely to drive after consuming alcohol over the holidays than at other times of the year.
  • 40% of Americans ages 21-34 say they themselves have regretted driving after having too much to drink.
  • 3 in 5 Americans say they always make a plan to get home safely after drinking alcohol.

SafeAuto warns if you do drink and drive be prepared to pay more for car insurance. Drivers charged with a DUI see their car insurance increase by as much as 70%.

SafeAuto is launching a campaign to encourage sober driving. The "We Got You: Drive Sober Get Rewarded" campaign offers Uber rides and gift cards for hotel stays. Details can be found on the company's Instagram.
