The governing body for the Canfield Fair is sharing their gratitude after they received $300,000 in American Rescue Plan funds.

The Board of Directors of the Mahoning County Agricultural Society were awarded the money from the Mahoning County Commissioners office. They plan on using the funds for several purposes that they hope will improve the popular site for attendees and the community all year round.

The main goal is to construct a restroom facility at the fairground's event center. The building serves as an educational center for youth and the governing body expects that students from all over Mahoning County will be impacted by the addition the center.

A statement from the agricultural society said the center will be used for any future emergency as a gathering site. This would include using the facility for mass vaccination clinics or as an emergency triage center.

The Canfield Fair's event center was constructed in 2020 and is now in the middle of phase two of a multiphase project.
