Additional police planned at Hubbard schools after TCTC student found with gun

HUBBARD, Ohio - Additional police officers will be at Hubbard School District buildings on Friday after the arrest of a Trumbull Career and Technical Center student.
Authorities say the student was taken into custody after returning on a district bus with an unloaded handgun on Thursday.
Hubbard Schools were told by police that there was no further threat to students or the school district after the arrest.
School officials say plans to have additional police officers at schools on Friday is out of an abundance of caution.
"We appreciate the police department’s swift action to eliminate any potential threat," said a Hubbard spokesperson in a statement.
Due to student privacy and confidentiality concerns, the district said they are unable to discuss any other details involving the incident.
The Trumbull Career and Technical Center shared a statement about the incident.
"The TCTC commends the Hubbard police department for the actions that were taken earlier today. Their quick response to this situation provided us with the assurance that there was no further threat to students or staff. The TCTC will have classes tomorrow."
