The State Fire Marshal is working to determine the cause of a two-alarm house fire in Cortland.

Dispatchers got a call shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday that flames had broken out on the second floor of a home on North High Street and one person was unable to get out.

Cortland Firefighters sent out a second alarm, summoning fire departments from surrounding communities.

Rescuers took one person from the home.  One person was taken to Trumbull Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The road was closed in the area for nearly two hours.
